Thanks to everyone who joined us for our recent nib and the Health Economy seminar series. We covered a range of relevant topics including our updated commercial terms and products, the current state of the New Zealand health economy, and why our non-PHARMAC cover is an important offering for your clients.
The updating of our commercial terms, including our commission models, was the first topic covered. When implemented, these changes will bolster our commitment to supporting our adviser business partners and help enable you to invest in the resilience of your business. The changes will be incorporated in an update to the nib Intermediary Agreement which will be sent to Agreement holders.
We also spoke about changes to most of our legacy and on-sale retail and group health products. Many of your nib clients will benefit from these changes, particularly those with legacy products. We’ll be sending you information in advance of the changes which will take place from 1 February 2024 renewals on, and we’ll be communicating with your clients as part of their usual annual renewal notification.
Our examination of the current state of the New Zealand health economy highlighted the factors fueling the increased demand for health services, such as population growth, age demographics and the availability of qualified health professionals. We also explored ways this demand can be satisfied and the impact it has on your clients.
Finally, we looked at non-PHARMAC drugs and the continuing media attention given to the role PHARMAC plays. This segment of the seminar included a video interview with nib’s own APM - Steph Walker and Rachel Smalley, prominent journalist and founder of The Medicine Gap . The interview highlighted the state of PHARMAC, their drug funding process and shared real stories about sick New Zealanders who can’t afford these life-saving drugs.
Don't miss the Rachel Smalley video, watch it here before the 31st of December 2023.
